Duplicate documents — grouping duplicate documents for efficient review (non-destructive)
Last updated: July 12, 2026 by Steve
Duplicate Documents
The Duplicate documents panel groups near-identical records in a request so you review them once instead of many times. Open it from the toolbar of the Documents workspace — the badge on the button shows the number of active groups.

How Duplicate Detection Works
Detection runs locally — no cloud AI is involved — and it groups but never removes: every document stays in the responsive set. The effect is purely on your review workload, because you can redact one canonical copy and propagate the result instead of redacting every copy separately.
Groups are colour-banded by the technique that matched them:
- Exact (red)
- Near duplicate (orange) — shown with a similarity percentage
- Email family (blue)
Finding Duplicates
- Open the request's Documents tab and open the Duplicate documents panel from the toolbar.
- Click Find / refresh duplicates to scan.
- Expand a group to see its members. The canonical member is starred.
Reviewing a Duplicate Group
- Open a group and decide which copy is the best one.
- Click Set canonical on that member.
- Click Review on a member to open it in the preview/redaction viewer.
Propagating Redactions
- Redact the canonical document.
- Click Propagate redactions to push its redactions to the copies.
- Each copy shows the proposed redactions for you to Confirm or Discard per member.

Resolving and Dismissing Groups
- Click Mark resolved when a group has been handled.
- Click Dismiss on a false positive.
- Use the Show resolved / dismissed toggle to revisit groups you have already dealt with.
