How to do the Surveys step on My Day: open the discovery survey you were asked to answer, list your activities, and save or submit.

Get Started: Answer a Survey

The Surveys topic on My Day is for people the privacy office asks to answer a discovery survey. You need no AccessPoint role, because being asked is what lets you open it.

Answer a discovery survey

  1. Open My Day and select the item that reads Answer the discovery survey. The survey is also in your notices and e-mail.
  2. List each activity in your area that collects personal information, such as a program, a service or a process.
  3. For each one, say what it does, where its records are kept (for example an application, a SharePoint site, a file share or paper files), who is responsible, and whether it is still running, has stopped or has moved.
  4. Answer any further questions the survey asks. Choices come from your organization's own lists, and you can describe anything else under Other.
  5. Select Save to keep a draft. Select Submit answers to send it. Submitting cannot be undone.

If nothing in your area collects personal information, submit with no activities and the office is told so. One reminder is sent when answers are due within two days, or overdue.

Guide me, Practise and Mark complete

Each step in the Get started group on My Day has one main action and two icons.

  • Guide me (the training icon) highlights the real control on the real screen in at most four short steps. The control stays usable, Tab reaches it, and Escape closes the tour. Guide me never opens a case for you. See Guide me.
  • Practise appears on steps that have a training case. It opens train mode, where you work on fictional cases and nothing is sent, delivered or published. See Train mode.
  • ? opens this page. Mark complete ticks the step when you have already done it another way.

A step ticks itself when you do it for real. Practising in train mode ticks only the Practise steps. For the whole group, see Get Started.
