How the reviewer rates each section of an assessment, the actions that follow, and how a section that is not acceptable goes back for rework.

Section Evaluation

Where the questionnaire switches it on, the reviewer of the active review step rates each section of the assessment, and, if the questionnaire allows it, individual questions. The rating is part of the DPIA validation work: it tells the author what is fine, what needs corrective actions, and what must be redone before the assessment can take effect.

Rating a Section

Open the Sections tab of the assessment during a review and choose Evaluate on a section. The default scale is Acceptable, Needs improvement and Not acceptable. A questionnaire can set its own scale; the CNIL method uses Acceptable, Improvable and To correct.

What Each Rating Asks For

  • A rating that is acceptable as it is needs nothing more.
  • A rating that needs actions lists them, each with an owner and a due date. They become commitments of the action plan, on the Commitments card (filter From evaluations).
  • A rating that needs rework needs a comment. The section goes back for revision: its editor sees the comment in a banner, and once revised the section reads Revised — waiting for re-evaluation.

A delegated section can be sent back to its assignee from the Assignments tab with Send back to …. The comments are copied into the instructions for you to edit first, because they may be internal.

Effect on the Review and the Approval

  • A reviewer whose own rating of a section says needs rework cannot approve their review step. They request changes instead, and the request is prefilled from their comments. Another reviewer's rating never blocks them.
  • When the questionnaire makes evaluation required, every required section needs a current rating, made after its last change, before the assessment can take effect.
  • When evaluation is optional, only a needs rework rating stops the approval.

Ready to approve? on the Validation tab lists any section still waiting for an evaluation. When the assessment goes back to Active, the current evaluations are set aside and stay listed under Earlier records.
