Notification preferences — per-category email and Teams opt-in and reminder settings

Notification Preferences

Notification preferences control which categories of activity also reach you by email and Microsoft Teams. They never touch the in-app Notices feed, which is always on — email and Teams are amplifiers layered on top of it. Open the panel from the Settings (gear) icon in the Notices panel.

The Preferences Grid

Preferences are a grid of categories against two channels, Email and Teams:

  • All notifications (the master row) sets your default Email and Teams behaviour. Any category you don't customise follows this row.
  • Mutable categories — Mentions, Comments, Assignments, Tasks, and Request activity — can be overridden per category. Email is a dropdown with three modes — Instant, Daily digest, or Off — and Teams is a simple on/off toggle.
  • Locked categories — Due-date reminders and System announcements — are compliance-tier: they are always delivered instantly and shown checked and disabled with a lock icon. You cannot mute them.

Setting a Category

  1. To change everything at once, set the All notifications row.
  2. To override one category, set its Email mode (Instant, Daily digest, or Off) and its Teams toggle.
  3. Locked categories can't be changed — they always send instantly.

The Daily Digest

The daily digest bundles all digest-mode emails into one message per day:

  1. Turn on Send one daily email instead of individual emails.
  2. Pick a Delivery time (whole hour) and Delivery days (Every day or Weekdays only).
  3. Set any category's Email mode to Daily digest to route it into the bundle. The digest option is greyed out until the digest is enabled.
  4. Click Save.

The digest replaces the instant email for those categories — it never double-sends. Times run in your profile time zone (shown in the caption, falling back to UTC if unset). Due-date reminders and system announcements always send immediately, regardless of digest settings.
